New Vacancy - Technical Sales Engineer (East Region)

Our client, an innovative manufacturing business, based in Tiverton (Devon) are seeking an individual to join their Sales team on a permanent basis. You will be based remotely, servicing clients across Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, traveling to the site in Tiverton when required.

Role: Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Remote (covering Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk & Suffolk)

Salary: £36,000 - £39,000

As Technical Sales Engineer, you will need to demonstrate a good understanding of mechanical engineering practices. Experience of engineering design would be highly advantageous, as would a formal qualification (HNC, HND in a relevant subject).

The market in which our client operates is extremely buoyant and has been for over 12 months. Industries in which our client supports includes Medical, Scientific, Nuclear, Food, Packaging, Printing, Electronics, Offshore, Mechanical Handling, Specialist Vehicles and General Automotion.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Making technical product presentations and demonstrating how the product will meet customer requirements

  • Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education

  • Establishing new and maintaining existing relationships with customers

  • Identifying and interpreting customer requirements

  • Technical report writing and quote preparation

  • Negotiating price, delivery and terms

  • After sales support

  • Attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events as required


  • Competitive salary of £36,000 - £39,000

  • Commission of c.£6,000 per annum, increasing to c.£12,000 per annum if growth targets are achieved

You will be working 35 hours a week (09:00 – 17:00), although flexibility will be required to meet the operational needs of internal clients and distributer networks.

Although a preference is for an individual with a proven track record in Technical Sales, the business provides extensive training and has developed a number of individuals into high performing sales professionals who come from a technical background, but who are keen to develop a career in sales.
